Mold Exposure and the Nervous System: What to Know

Mold & the Nervous System: The Connection People Often Miss
When we talk about mold exposure, most people immediately think about coughing, congestion, sinus problems, or respiratory symptoms.
But mold exposure can be much more complicated than that.
The nervous system can be affected by inflammatory and immune responses associated with environmental exposures, and this is one reason some people report symptoms such as brain fog, headaches, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep disturbances, dizziness, or increased sensitivity to their surroundings.
And here’s where things get complicated.
These symptoms can look like so many other things.
Stress. Poor sleep. Nutritional deficiencies. Hormonal changes. Medication effects. Other environmental exposures.
So instead of assuming that every symptom automatically means “mold toxicity,” it makes more sense to look at the whole picture.
Where are you living?
Have you had water damage?
Is there visible or hidden moisture?
Did your symptoms begin or worsen after moving into a particular environment?
Do they improve when you spend significant time somewhere else?
Your body is constantly responding to its environment.
Sometimes looking at the environment is just as important as looking at what’s happening inside the body.
