Glutathione & NAC: Supporting Your Body’s Defense System

Glutathione: One of Your Body’s Important Defense Systems
Glutathione is one of the body's major endogenous antioxidants, found throughout the body and especially important inside cells.
It helps protect cells from oxidative stress and participates in several processes involved in the metabolism and elimination of certain compounds.
This becomes especially interesting when we're talking about environmental exposures like heavy metals, pesticides, and other chemicals. Glutathione can bind to certain compounds and is involved in enzyme systems that help the body process them.
Your body makes its own glutathione from three amino acids: cysteine, glycine, and glutamate.
And this is where NAC (N-acetylcysteine) comes into the conversation. NAC is a precursor to cysteine, providing the body with one of the building blocks it needs to make glutathione.
So supporting glutathione isn't simply about taking a glutathione supplement.
Your cells need the raw materials, enzymes, energy, and proper cellular signaling to produce and recycle it efficiently.
And this is exactly why I keep coming back to the terrain.
The goal isn't just to add more. It's to help the body do what it already knows how to do.
